Keep America Beautiful certified Sanger as an affiliate September 18, 2006. Keep Sanger Beautiful coordinates the citywide litter prevention, beautification and community improvement, and waste reduction projects. 


The Texas Department of Agriculture is pleased to announce that the City of Sanger has become a member of Texas Yes!, Texas Department of Agriculture's new initiative to market and promote rural Texas. 


The City of Sanger welcomed its first Director of Economic Development on January 23, 2006.  Cecile Carson joined the City after serving seven years as the Director of Affiliate Services and Training for Keep Texas Beautiful, a non-profit community improvement and environment organization based in Austin.  She served as the liaison to the affiliate network of over 340 cities and counties statewide providing training, resources and assistance.  Ms. Carson managed the awards program including the Governor's Community Achievement Award sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation.  Other responsibilities  included promoting youth involvement, coordinating law enforcement training and programming on illegal dumping, and presenting at state and national conferences.   Prior to Keep Texas Beautiful, Cecile worked for the City of Denton in planning, code enforcement, solid waste management and community improvement. 

Ms. Carson is currently the President of the Texas Environmental Education Partnership, Vice-Chair of the North Central Texas Council of Governments Resource Conservation Commission, Co-Chair of the Network of Directors of Volunteers in Texas and a consultant for Keep America Beautiful.
